You are more than just a link to a product. This might seem obvious, but this is the perfect place to start talking about personal branding. Whether you are part of a direct sales or social selling company, or you run your own online business, your online content will become a direct reflection of you. Its very easy to copy and paste online content, link back to a focus item, and call it a day. It is harder to remember that you are not **JUST** a shopping link, but a resource as well!
Be More Than Just A Link
Customers can shop a link without you, which means they can shop any link, to any website. When a savvy shopper hops onto her laptop to do some online shopping, what is going to make her choose you? When we use the term ‘personal branding’, we talk about injecting your personality into what already exists with your company. You are a person with likes, dislikes, interests, etc. These are the things that you need to use to your advantage when building your online presence!
A Pinch Of Personality
When you begin to inject your personality into your online platforms, you are sharing a valuable reason why your customers should shop with you versus another brand. You become a real person, rather than just a link, and therefore become relatable. Customers can begin to make connections with you, and form relationships over time. Some of my newest and most valued friendships have been formed through the online communities associated with my Silver Icing, and I Dress Myself businesses. These are relationships that I didn’t expect, yet I am so grateful for them. These relationships make doing the work that I do so much more rewarding.

If you are looking for an additional professional development resource, I highly suggest the Personal Branding video course offered via Sassy Suite. This was a great place for me to start when I really took a look at what I was doing in my online communities, and recognized what personal branding actually was.
Our next article in this series will take a look at differentiating yourself from your competitors!
